Stove Tops

Stove top coffee makers produce an excellent intense cup of Italian style coffee. However because they do not produce crema it is not a true espresso.

Stove Tops consist of three parts, a base chamber which holds the water and can range from a single to a 12 cup capacity, a metal filter unit which contains the coffee and drops into the base and the top chamber which is screwed into the base and contains the finished coffee.

The espresso is created when steam pressure forces the hot water up a tube and onto the coffee grinds located in the filter between the two chambers. The coffee then dribbles into the top chamber where it can be poured.

Coffee Making Tips

Fill the bottom chamber of the coffee maker with water up to the safety valve.

Slot the funnel filter into the bottom chamber and fill it lightly with ground coffee. Do not tamper.

Screw the top chamber on tightly.

Place the coffee maker on a stove on medium heat.

The coffee will begin to fill the top chamber after about 4 minutes.

When the top chamber is filled with steaming coffee remove the stove top coffee maker from the heat.

The coffee is ready to be served.

Bialetti

The first Bialetti coffee maker was made in 1933 by the skill and craft of Alfonso Bialetti. It revolutionised the way in which coffee was prepared and enjoyed. Bialetti Moka express is still the same as it was when it was first produced in 1933. This is because it's special, eight-sided shape, (now imitated around the world), is one of its most important qualities. Today, Bialetti produce stovetop coffee makers of various designs in aluminum and stainless steel. All styles are available in various cup sizes to suit individual needs.
